About

Hello there fellow RV dreamers, stepparents, veterans, military personnel or anyone interesting in topics on my blog! Welcome to RVing with Lesley! It is my honor and passion to tell the world about my experience as a full-time RVer, stepmom, and US Army Veteran! My husband and I have been living in an RV for almost 6 years now and I truly love it. Our decision was bore out of necessity mostly because of one of our Army duty stations lacked proper housing and we got tired of throwing away money on rent. The world we discovered after the big plunge of buying an RV was truly remarkable, life altering. and super rewarding!  I hope you will read all about it on my blog!

I was on Active Duty for 8 years as a Military Police Officer finishing my service after commanding with a CID unit out of Fort Campbell, KY.  I spent time in Fort Leonardwood, MO, Camp Frank Merrill, GA and Kandahar, Afghanistan. But the highlight of my Army career was helping with the historical integration of women at Ranger School; it was the most proud moment of my life to be a part of such a monumental achievement for women, which I have written about here in my blog!  Please check it out!

Now as a veteran, I travel with my husband and his job in our 42 foot Grand Design Solitude 5th Wheel.  I have three wonderful stepkids and even stepgrandkids! Oh, and of course, I travel with my fur babies Lowryder, Spot, and Romeo!  I have a passion for helping other stepmothers and I hope my blog with assist with in that endeavor however small. Being a stepmom has been a roll coaster for me and one of the toughest challenges of my life! I think more discussions need to be had on the topic of co-parenting as there is a huge need in the US; there are more stepfamilies forming every day than traditional two-parent families! I hope I can support positive change for people struggling as coparents!

I am originally from Madison, AL which I still claim as home, though I have not lived there for close to a decade. I graduated from the University of Alabama (UAH) in Huntsville with a BA in Political Science and I have a Masters in Security from Webster University. I am now one class away from a 2nd Master’s in Public Affairs and Policy from UAH thanks to the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Most importantly I’m a die-hard, lifelong Alabama football fan! If you are from the South, you know how important this is! Wink, wink! Roll tide!

Again, I’m so excited you have taken the time to read about what matters so much to me and I hope you enjoy the journey with me! Happy camping, stepmomming, and God bless America and our veterans!
